# Fix GPS tracking on iPhone?

# Fix missing, inaccurate, or interrupted GPS tracking in Qpaws | iPhone

If your route is missing, inaccurate, or stops partway through an activity, the cause is usually related to **Location Services, location permissions, or GPS reception**.

**Most problems are solved by Steps 1–3. Start there for the quick fix.**

## 1. Restart your iPhone

A quick restart can clear temporary GPS or location issues.

Restart your iPhone, open Qpaws, and try again.

## 2. Check location permissions

Go to:

**Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Qpaws**

Make sure:

* **Location Services:** On
* **Location Access:** Always
* **Precise Location:** On

This allows Qpaws to continue receiving your location when your screen is locked or the app is running in the background.

### Does "Always" mean Qpaws tracks me all the time?

No.

Qpaws only uses your location when you have an activity running — from the moment you press **Start** until you stop the activity.

The **Always** permission simply allows tracking to continue when your iPhone is locked or Qpaws is running in the background.

**Qpaws does not continuously track your location when you're not recording an activity.**

## 3. Make sure Location Services are on

Go to:

**Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services**

Make sure **Location Services** is turned on.

## 4. Don't force-close Qpaws while tracking

Qpaws can continue tracking when your screen is locked or you're using another app.

But don't swipe Qpaws away or force-close it while an activity is running.

## 5. Test outdoors

GPS works best with a clear view of the sky.

* Go outside to an open area
* Open Qpaws
* Start a tracked activity
* Give your iPhone a few seconds to establish your location before moving

Tall buildings, mountains, dense forest, and being indoors can reduce GPS accuracy.

## 6. Keep Qpaws and iOS updated

Make sure you're using the latest version of:

* **Qpaws**
* **iOS**

Updates can include fixes related to location services, background activity, and GPS tracking.

## 7. Reset Location & Privacy

If the problem continues, you can reset your iPhone's location permissions.

Go to:

**Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Location & Privacy**

Then reopen Qpaws and allow the requested location permissions again.

**Note:** This resets location and privacy permissions for other apps too, so they may ask for permission again.
