# Track an activity with Qpaws

Track walks, runs, canicross, bikejoring, skijoring, mushing and more directly with Qpaws.

### Start tracking

1. Tap the **+** button.
2. Choose **Track Activity**.
3. Select your **activity type**.
4. Choose the **dog or dogs** joining the activity.
5. Add **equipment** if relevant.
6. Tap **Start**.

Qpaws starts recording your route, distance, time, pace/speed and other activity data.

Your most recent selections are remembered, so starting your next activity is even quicker.

### During the activity

While tracking, you can:

* Follow your route and stats live
* Pause and resume the activity
* Add photos
* Keep tracking with your phone locked or Qpaws in the background

> **Tip:** For reliable GPS tracking, make sure Qpaws has the correct location permissions and isn't restricted by your phone's battery-saving settings.

### Finish and save

When you're done:

**Pause → Finish → Save Activity**

Before saving, you can review the activity and add or change details.

Once saved, the activity becomes part of your dog's **Timeline** and contributes to its activity history, stats, progress and goals.

### No GPS needed?

If the activity already happened — or you simply don't want to track it with GPS — choose **+ → Manual Activity** instead.

You can add the activity type, dogs, duration, distance and other details manually.
